Portugual. The Man's gear stolen!
A favorite band of ours, Portgual. The Man's gear was stolen after this weekend's Lollapalooza festival. Originally, it was their van AND their gear but apparently the van was returned today.
Here's a link to the Chicagoist coverage with photos: http://chicagoist.com/2011/08/08/portugal_the_mans_van_gear_stolen_a.php

Summer Break?
Despite the awesomeness of Les Savy Fav's performance on the boat, this one by Josh of The Smoking Popes might be my favorite of the Summer Break series. It also reminds me how great of a lyricist the Moz is...
"...Shyness is nice and, shyness can stop you, from doing all the things in life you'd like to. So if there's something you'd like to try, ask me I won't say now, how could I..."
"Ask" - Josh Caterer
Josh Caterer of Smoking Popes covers "Ask" by The Smiths on Tim's deck
"School's Out For Summer" - Les Savy Fav
Les Savy Fav covers "School's Out" by Alice Cooper on a yacht
By the way - it's NOT summer break, we play next Tuesday at Pancho's!
Tue. Jul. 19 - 8:00 pm - 18+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
HORACE PINKER - mp3
Horace Pinker has played in more than 21 countries all over the world from Europe, Brazil, China and Australia. They have played some of the biggest festivals, including the Dynamo Open Air in the Netherlands, Popkomm in Germany, Belgium’s Groezrock and the 2007 Vans ZonaPunk Tour in Brazil. They continue to defy the trends and release records with thoughtful lyrics and powerful music that cannot be pinned down to a simple category or genre.
ASPIGA
Aspiga is from Collingswood, NJ and formed in 2006. Influences are Osker, Jawbreaker, Hanalei, Fingers Cut Mega-Machine, Lawrence Arms, and Desaparecidos.
THE HEAT - mp3
Punk rock dudes influenced by Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio, and Nothington. Often mistaken for the Village People on casual Fridays.
BULLY IN THE HALLWAY - mp3
For fans of bands like Fugazi, Fifteen, Avail and The Ghost, Bully in the Hallway is a great new addition the Chicago punk rock scene. With these bands as their influences, Bully in the Hallway combines great lyrics, fierce riffs, and an uncontainable stage presence.
WEREPIRE DAY
'90's-leaning fuzz anthems, small but loud. Think GBV, Jawbreaker, Dino Jr, Superchunk, Sloan, etc. Sometimes a full band, tonight one man.

FrontManology 101 - Tim Harrington
| It may be hard to see, but Tim is actually coddling a small dog here (handed to him by an audience member). The dog was unharmed but definitely surprised. |

hey there, take a 4 minute timeout
It's a crazy, hectic world out there. Take a minute to relax and appreciate the finer things in life, like Ladies.
Big ups to Mike Lust for sharing this gem with me. I hear this album is on constant roto at Longman and Eagle when he's behind the bar.

LCD Soundsystem's "Last" Show
| LCD Soundsystem -Taken from a show we were at in Milwaukee |
Our own singer John Matthew Simon is off with a rowdy bunch to NYC to see LCD Soundsystem's "Last" show and to spread the word about Bully in the Hallway. Any suggestions of other bands or things to see while he's there this weekend? Follow or tweet @bullyinhallway

Thax's Poem from Our Record Release!
Bully In The Hallway # 2
Fruit constructs an ivory carving of a tree,
Home for its self to luxuriate upon,
Sighing back in slow motion.
Knowing an amateur’s eye can’t tell the roots were covered.
Out,
Just after the fruit was born,
The fruit’s wish knife,
Also carving memories of a long prayerful gestation in any witnesses.
Giving the fruit the golden bong of that lucky second…
Announcing the current hour.

We Need Your Help!!!
What's good everybody? Hope Summer is here for you!!!
It seems to be finally poking it's head out over the Chi.
Although I'll believe it when it finally breaks 80F again.
Anyways The Rationale behind this blog posting is to get all of y'all riled up and ready to help us further our music career.
2 weeks back we were played on 93XRT's Local Anesthetic and since then, the album has been spun on XRT a few times...
So in this time of "Change" we call on you our friends, fans, and the greater public to call in and request us. The more the merrier!!!
Here is the # is 312-329-WXRT (9978)

Jacko Face Melts Audiences; One Last Time.
I heard on BBC Music Weekly that MJack himself is getting back on tour... A Stationary stop in London @ the O2 for 10 shows. 350,000 people registered for a 10 show 20,000 person venue. WTF... I mean don't get me wrong the first audio cassette that I purchased by finagling cash out of family and extended family was "BAD" which was a fucking great record. Now the cheesiest show on earth has set forth to conquer what remains of the pop world.
Show Spelled Pronunciation [pop]
Show IPA verb, popped, pop⋅ping, noun, adverb, adjective –verb (used without object)
Nothing has been short about this man/?'s career...
Will the likes of Chris Brown head down this path and deliquesce into the foreground like Jacko's face? I can't wait to see...

On a side note... We are writing new material right now, although we haven't stopped. That's what this whole gig is about right? We have two new songs that we are working on tonight. They're called "Advice" and "Stick-Up Chicks"
Anyways if you are not busy go check our pals The Loyal Divide at the Empty Bottle Tonight!!!
Simon.
